During the Iranian Revolution, many governments critical of the regime confined their response to general condemnations of “violence” against protesters.

However, this language often obscures the seriousness of the situation. Available reports describe the use of military force against civilians, widespread arrests, executions, and other alleged human rights violations. Internet restrictions have made independent verification difficult and have limited global visibility.

Many Iranians are calling for more than statements of concern. They are asking for sustained attention, accountability, and concrete action from the international community. Lives have been lost, and the consequences continue to unfold.
